John Simpson Robertson
John Simpson ROBERTSON was the son of Joseph L. Robertson and Patsy Hamm. He was born December 15, 1854 in Wayne County, Tennessee (see quote below).
Although the obituary of John Simpson Robertson says he was born in Wayne County,Tenn.,The 1890 Census of Hunt County says he was born in Alabama and that his parents were born in Tennessee. It is my opinion that his obituary is right since family records show that his brother was born in Tennessee two years before he was born. -- Larry E. Robertson
John married Mary Eva "Molly" PITTS on September 22, 1886 (most likely in Hunt County, Texas). Molly was the daughter of Houston Pitts and Jacey Coshatt(Cashatt)Pitts and granddaughter of William Pitts and Rebecca Thompson. Molly was born in May of 1867.
John and Molly had one child:
Lester Earl ROBERTSON married to Tina Adeline ROHUS.
John Simpson Robertson died March 31, 1929 and was buried in the White's Prairie Cemetery in Kaufman County, Texas. Molly died in 1938 and was also buried there.
"The graves of my Great-Grandparents John Simpson Robertson and his wife Mary Eva (Molly)Pitts Robertson are no longer unmarked graves. Thanks to the efforts of Jerry Annelle Hall Ferrell (my first cousin)the graves are marked once again. Jerry found someone who went to the cemetery and engraved the names right into the marble basestone.As many of you know,their headstone was stolen some years ago... Their graves are marked with only their initials,last name,and years of birth and death.At least now their graves will be marked for their descendents to find for years to come. -- Larry Robertson
